The year is almost over

Hello everyone,
so here is what has been going on...first off, who knew trying to get over pneumonia could take soooooooo long....it caused me to miss fall market in Houston,..,,
Ok, so then I threw out my back....not fun....then to top it all off, I was at home by myself, started feeling dizzy, it kept getting worse.  I laid down thinking it would pass.  Oh no, it kept getting worse and worse and worse....after a trip in an ambulance and in emergency room for about 6 hours...It is vertigo. NICE....and through all of this dealing with the fibromyalgia.  Through all of this, I am not complaining, it could be a lot worse.

AND...my internet works when it wants to.  Love technology,  So my husbands best friend comes over on Sunday to "fix" the internet (our resident geek)....we shut everything down, he is here for a couple of hours...says everything is great, fixed, we are ready to go....and it is down on Monday.  Wonderful.

Anyway, with all of this going on, I have designed enough quilts to get me through the next 3 years.  That's all I could do, I couldn't work really work on any quilts.  I was able to submit quilts to a couple of magazines and they got accepted.  YAY!!!!!! Those will be out next year.
,
Also, thank you to everyone who has purchased my book.  It is doing well.  If you haven't seen the inside of the book, I will post some pictures later.

Just one more note:  I am working really, really hard on a project.  I know it will happen, I just don't know when.  Send me those positive vibes and prayers.  I will give you an update on that when I have more information.

Ok people,
time for me to stop rambling...that's all I have for now...

1st Magazine!!!!

Hello Everyone,
ok.....aside from recovering from being sick, a vacation to the south and book signing at the Country Loft, I think I am getting back into the swing of things.  I received a nice surprise late yesterday.  I received a box from Generation Q Magazine.  It was the return of my quilt and 5 issues of the Sept/Oct issue of Generation Q Magazine.  That's right, me in a modern magazine.  After a lot of nudging (over a year) from Jake (a publisher from Generation Q), I submitted a quilt and it debuts in the current issue.  What excitement!!!!! The quilt title, "Me and My Black Eyed Peas".  It appears on page 65.  This is a wonderful issue of embroidery.  Pick it up in your area or you can purchase from me as well.  The magazine is $9.99.  Let me know what you think of the quilt.  Here are a couple of picks:

Book signing and post!!!!

Hello everyone...I had a wonderful time at The Country Loft on Saturday.  I will post pics tomorrow.  I also wanted to let you know Marcus Fabrics did a post on their blog about my book.  I LOOVVVEEE THEIR FABRICS.  Most of the fabrics in the book are Marcus Fabrics.  THANK YOU PATI AND LISA!!!! I APPRECIATE THE SHOUT OUT!!!!!  Here is a link to the article: http://marcusmentions.com/
To continue, I met a lot of wonderful people at the book signing.  I had with me some  of the new patterns I am working on.  There was much excitement in the air.  It's hard to tell when you are working by yourself if what you are designing will appeal to everyone.  Thanks to all the ladies who came out to support my first book.  I greatly appreciate all the wonderful stories and words of encouragement and wisdom you all have shared with me.  I am looking forward to the next book signing and meeting more of you.

August is here!!!!!!!

I know I have not posted for awhile.  Coming back from market, I have had some serious fibromyalgia flare ups, which if any of you know, it does not allow you to do anything.  Then I got sick with a sinus infection, developed asthma and pneumonia.  So I am still recovering from the latter.  In between all of this, my book is came out.  I am so excited.

My book is available on the Kansas City Star website, https://www.pickledishstore.com/ and on Amazon, http://www.amazon.com/; and as soon as I have the energy, I will put it on my website as well.
THANK YOU to everyone that has supported me by purchasing my patterns and all of your encouraging words and
THANK YOU TO KANSAS CITY STAR FOR BELIEVING IN ME AND MY VISION.

I am already throwing thoughts around for the next book!!  (I love to torture myself :^p)

Also, on Saturday, August 10th, I will be at The Country Loft in La Mesa, Ca for a book signing.  If you can make it, come by I would love to see as many of you as I can.  The Country Loft has books, give them a call and reserve one before they run out.  I hope to see you there.

I will post next week!!!!!!!!!!  I have two new patterns I need to print up and take with me this weekend.  I will take plenty of pictures to post.

And here is my newest pattern, Fruits of the Vine
It is 50"x50" and has wool applique.
Both will be available June 1.

Working!!!!!!!!!!

Ok....so over the past 3 weeks I have been in Big Bear Lake at Patchworks Quilt Shop.  A BIG THANK YOU to Karen and Sally for inviting me for a trunk show and workshop.  I had a ball and to the ladies of their guild THANK YOU!!!!!!  I also attend a Meet the Teacher event in Carson.  Had a lot of fun, met a lot of people and a lot of old friends dropped by that I have met from vending at quilt shows. AND......

I have been sewing and designing new quilts...here are some pics of one that I just finished.....DRUM ROLL......

UNDER MY SPELL
Partial corner blocks

Corner blocks completed

Full Quilt

I know its a departure from the civil war quilts I have designed...You should know I have so much I want to touch on, I can't keep it inside.  The picture of course does not do it justice.  The fabrics I used are not really bright, but subdued.....this will be released in a book form.  I had to break down the quilt into sections so that it would not be overwhelming.  The quilt main body uses only one block, then of course the border blocks and the corner border blocks.  It was a step out of my comfort zone and I knew it was time for me to challenge myself.  I had a ball.  Only took me about 5-7 days to make the quilt.  I will be adding some embroidery to it....you know I have too........this book should be available within the next couple of weeks.  It will be available on my etsy site (https://www.etsy.com/shop/stitchinbytheriver) and website.... www.stitchinbytheriver.com
AND.......... BOOK UPDATE
I received the pictures for my book....YAYAYAYAYAYYAY!!!!!!!!!!
The pictures were taken on an 1800s farm.  As soon as I get permission, I will show you some pictures.
Ok...so back to work...I have a Christmas quilt I am working on....I should have the sample ready next week...I will post pics......
Until then......keep stitchin'

Another update!!!!!

So, I spoke with my editor, Judy P. from Kansas City Star.  We had a wonderful conversation.  Wasn't too long, she has the flu.  I was given some deadlines: everything has to be in by the begining of March.....AHHHHHHHH!!! No worries, I can get it done.  I did finish writing the instructions. (except for 3)  I just keep changing which patterns to put in the book.  I initially had 14, then 10, then 12, now I am at 11 projects.  My plan of action now is to gather my girlfriends to help me get the stitching done.  Here are the fabrics I will be using, all MARCUS FABRICS.
and some more drawings

and here are some pics of the quilts designs
Let me know what you think....have a wonderful weekend
